Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

This will be my last newsletter for 2019.

I hope you have all had a great year and achieved all of the goals you set yourself and more.

As I head into 2020 I am grateful for the amazing opportunities I have experienced and the wonderful people I have met and continue to work with.

The Quality Networking program continues to be a highlight of my work, developing a strong professional network for quality managers is important to me having experienced the frustration of the role first hand.

Head over to my website for more information.

Designing and delivering two new programs this year has been exciting and the feedback from organisations and participants has made it all worthwhile.

The AuditMindset program is about a new way of audit and quality. If we are going to make quality count in the health and human services we need to rethink the way we work.

The Managership program is designed to move the middle managers into a leadership mindset. This work stemmed from my work with quality managers but has extended to the middle-level managers across different sectors who experience the same problems:

  • reactive work
  • overwhelm
  • moving from technical expert to manager
  • managing the performance of people who were previously your peers

My focus in 2020 is a subtle shift from SYSTEMS to PEOPLE and I’m looking forward to sharing my learning and insights.

One of the lessons I have learned recently from my trip to the UK for Christmas is that a subtle shift in thinking can have a big impact, let me explain:

This is the third year we have traveled to the UK for Christmas as a family.

Originally from the UK myself and my husband now call Australia home but love going to the UK to experience Christmas with the family in a cold climate.

One of the things we love about 'going home' is the feeling that we are tourists.

  • We experience mundane tasks with joy
  • Supermarkets stock old favorites
  • Accents sound strange yet familiar
  • We  visit landmarks that didn't interest us when we lived here
  • It made me think that we could all do this more in our lives, look at our life through the eyes of a tourist.

When I teach the Audit Mindset program we talk about the difference between looking and seeing.

LOOK - direct one's gaze in a specified direction

SEE - perceive with the eyes; discern visually

What differences would you see at work and in life if you did more seeing and less looking?

If you see things differently what might you change?

As we head into 2020 it’s a fresh start, with a fresh perspective anything is possible

See you next year.....
