What is Quality and how to describe it?

Simon Sinek works with organisations to help them make the abstract more concrete, using verbs to describe values rather than our preference for nouns like trust, integrity or quality.

Quality is a popular noun used to describe 'great work' but its abstract nature means that it can be hard to understand for most people including describing how they as individuals and teams deliver quality.

As children, we learn to think in concrete terms first and develop abstract thinking over time.

If you are trying to develop a culture of quality its important to make sure everyone has a concrete way to describe quality.

Could you start by using verbs to describe how you "do" quality?

Try these:

We SERVE our customers
We INSPECT our product
We SOAR above expectation
We NOTICE our customers needs
We STRETCH ourselves

How do you currently describe the abstract term quality?

Is there a more concrete way?
